About Les Cavaliers
We’re a Mardi Gras Krewe without a Parade! We have all of the fun and pageantry without the hassle of crowds and beads.
Each year, Krewes of commoners gather to celebrate the Carnival season. Not only is Carnival is a special season to the participants, it serves as a great economic engine for our community. Krewes select members of “Royalty” including a King and Queen to lead the misrule. King Cavalier has been leading misrule since 1958. As one of the oldest Krewes on the MS Gulf Coast, Les Cavaliers is also one of the most fun! Our official schedule consists of a spring King & Queen’s party, a summer party, and a Fall Fete’ in late fall. All events lead up to the Les Cavaliers Ball weekend. We get things started with a Friday night “Floor Party”, a Saturday warm-up luncheon and a formal Ball on Saturday night. That’s just the official parties! One never knows when the King of misrule will call for an impromptu gathering! Watch our website for information on those!
The King, Queen and Royal Court (six Dukes and six Maids) are selected by a random drawing from the paid membership – anybody can be selected! Court members have ranged from 21 to 70 years old. Membership is enjoyable and affordable. For only $325 per year, members and their spouses get invitations to all of the parties!
For those members who participate as Royalty, participation is reasonable and yes, the Royalty has a lot more events to heighten the experience and enjoyment of membership in a Krewe.
Come join the revelry! There is really no work involved. Just show up, have fun, meet new friends, and make new memories.
